Barbara Lysenko has been teaching and musically inspiring children for over 30 years. Singing from childhood is a passion that has never dimmed. Since that time, she has performed in numerous musical theater and opera productions.

Barbara dedicates her vocal career to helping children develop confidence and joy in singing. She began sharing her love of singing with children in public school and religious settings directing musicals such as Pinocchio, Peter Pan, Tom Sawyer, and GT and the Halo Express. She founded and directed two youth choirs at St. James Church in Pennington, NJ developing young voices from first grade through high school. Most recently, she started Main Street Children’s Choir in Lawrenceville, NJ for grades kindergarten through fifth grade.

Barbara is now offering remote private lessons, as well as the Main Street Children's choir exprience.. Barbara believes that everybody can be taught to sing. Placing a child’s voice with proper technique from the start opens a world of singing possibilities. Providing children with a safe place to grow their singing ability, movement, and presentation skills is her inspiration for teaching. Her unique style of teaching keeps children having fun, engaged, and learning.

Barbara continues advanced voice study with Julliard-trained, Steven Schnurman of Schnurman Voice Studios. Barbara holds a B.A. in Music Education (vocal major, piano minor) from The College of New Jersey, and has training in Music Learning Theory, Kodaly, Dalcroze Eurythmics, and holds Orff Level 1 certification. She is the co-author of Kids’ MusicRound, the exciting parent-child music and movement program, and the preschool program, Classroom Jamboree.  Barbara describes the merging of music and children as delightful!
