Barbara Lysenko, Artistic Director, has been teaching and musically inspiring children
for over 30 years. Singing from childhood is a passion that has never dimmed. She is the co- author of the Kids’ MusicRound program and locally founded and directed a church youth choir and teen choir. She helped to spearhead the tri-parish initiative to create the Children’s Catholic Choir of Hopewell Valley in Pennington.

She continues with advanced voice study and has performed in numerous musical
theater and opera productions. Barbara has directed children’s productions of Peter
Pan, Tom Sawyer, Pinnochio and GT and the Halo Express. She has prepared numerous students for local auditions and coached children performing on program CDs.

Teaching credentials include K -5 vocal music in the Hamilton, NJ, public schools, pre-
school music at the Pennington Montessori School, and teaching parent/child music
classes since 1988. Barbara holds a B.A. in Music Education from The College of New
Jersey and has training in Music Learning Theory, Kodaly, Dalcroze Eurythmics and
holds Orff Level 1 certification. She develops and presents teacher workshops in early
childhood music.

Barbara believes that everybody can be taught to sing. By placing a child’s voice
properly from the start it opens a world of singing possibilities moving forward. Providing
children with a safe place to grow with confidence in their singing ability, moving and
presentation skills is her inspiration for teaching.
